(CCTV)Beijingers have let their imaginations run wild handcrafting lanterns to light up the city. Now these creative lanterns are brightening the night sky at the Beijing International Sculpture Park on September 13.
These "Harvest Lanterns" are among 18 gold prize winners. They were made by local farmers. Suburban Beijing residents want to express their best wishes and support for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics through their handicrafts.
It's hard to believe the delicate lanterns are made from discarded lids and drink bottles. Some of them were made by disabled people.
China has a long tradition of lantern making. They are a must for big occasions, from Spring Festival to Mid-Autumn Day.
Here, at the exhibition in the Beijing International Sculpture Park, you'll find lanterns displaying both traditional skills and the latest technology.
