Seven Olympic venues including the Shijingshan Gym, Shougang Basketball Centre, Laoshan Velodrom, Laoshan Mountain Bike Course, Beijing Shooting Range Hall, Beijing Shooting Range CTF and the Laoshan Bicycle Moto Cross (BMX) Venue in Shijingshan district have agreed to form a sports industry alliance to integrate resources and promote the utilization of their venues. This agreement is the first of its kind in China.

According to Fu Shengzhu, the deputy director of Shijingshan District, the establishment of the alliance indicates a new period of gym utilization in post-Olympic times.

Fu also pointed out three of the alliance's goals:

1. To integrate sports resources, enhance the Olympic gyms' utilization and promote the development of the sports industrial zone in and around the western fifth ring road region.

2. To get the government's support and optimize the environment for the development of sports industries.

3. Enhance the communication between government and Olympic gyms, enterprises; boost the management structure of gyms and promote the construction of a Capital Recreation District (CRD).

The alliance will make efforts to use gyms effectively as soon as possible by holding high-level sports games, building fitness centres and introducing "one-card" convenient venue services in the near future.
