Shijingshan District is at the top of the Sanitation Evaluation List of Beijing Districts in the second quarter of this year, followed by Chongwen, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Dongcheng, Xuanwu, Fengtai and Haidian Districts, according to officials from the Shijingshan Municipal Administrative Committee (SMAC).
The evaluation includes professional, social and problem evaluation.
The district examined cleaning work of roads, the management of dump sites and the sanitation of 25 public restrooms. Officials were sent to examine some vehicles used to transport goods, and found 15 of them without 3 mandatory certifications (Vehicle's Permission for Transporting Goods, Dregs Disposure Certification and Sealing Devices).
The district removed about 40 outdoor billboards, logos and mascots leftover from 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
A SMAC official said the district has urged families and schools to classify garbage since the beginning of the year. The district also registered 55 construction sites, and asked some of them to solve the problem of causing road pollution.
