Shijingshan district is the fifth new district following the districts of Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen, and Xuanwu in Beijing. It aims to develop into a Capital Recreation District (CRD), expanding Beijing inner city living standards to provide quality information service and entertainment venues. CRD functions predominantly as a way to combine leisure and recreation to build group-based activities including digital culture, art exhibitions, shopping, and business operations on the basis of natural environment and rich cultural atmosphere. The Beijing Digital Entertainment Industry Demonstration Base (also known as The Base) is one of the major industries of CRD Shijingshan.
