Recently, Shijingshan District released the Three-Year Action Plan (2023-2025) for the Reform and Upgrading of Zhongguancun Shijingshan Park (hereinafter referred to as "the Plan"), which centers on the overall goal of building a world-leading science and technology park. It focuses on the four major distinctive industries including metaverse, sci-fi, industrial internet, and artificial intelligence, aiming to develop industrial clusters with global influence and endeavoring to build a high-quality science and technology park with its own characteristics.
Zhongguancun Shijingshan Park, on the front of industrial transformation and sci-tech innovation in Shijingshan District, has built distinctive industrial parks such as the sci-fi industrial cluster zone of Shougang Park and Zhongguancun Industrial Internet Park, with annual revenues growing from CNY 4 billion in 2006 to CNY 396 billion in 2022, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 31 percent.
The Plan focuses on 84 key tasks including restructuring the park's management system and mechanism, and optimizing the spatial layout of industries as well as 129 major projects such as promoting the construction of carriers, the construction of municipal and public service facilities, and other industry-related projects, with a total investment of CNY 90 billion approximately.
According to the Plan, Zhongguancun Shijingshan Park will be built into a specialized, distinctive, branded park in 2025, functioning as an innovation hub for the transformation and development of western Beijing with the total revenue reaching CNY 470 billion.
