On the evening of December 1, the 2024-2025 FIS Snowboard & Freeski Big Air World Cup Shougang - Beijing came to a successful conclusion at the Big Air Shougang (known as "Xuefeitian" in Chinese) in Beijing, with a total of four champions crowned.
Chad Buchholz, Park & Pipe Media Coordinator of FIS (International Ski and Snowboard Federation), said, "The Big Air Shougang is one of the best ski resorts in the world. It provides rare conditions for many top athletes to make breakthroughs, attempt difficult maneuvers, and perform miracles."
Notably, the crystal trophy for this event stood out as a highlight. Crafted entirely from transparent crystal, the trophy is capable of capturing and refracting outdoor light, producing a dazzling aura. Inside the crystal globe of the trophy, a meticulously carved model of a white big air is embedded, symbolizing the Big Air Shougang covered in pristine snow. It serves as a prestigious emblem that combines an aesthetic design with commemorative significance.
It is noteworthy that Shougang Park also served as a venue for the 2023/24 FIS Snowboard & Freeski Big Air World Cup. As a permanently preserved and utilized big air, it has attracted worldwide attention with its industrial elements exclusive to Shougang Park.
Shougang Park has utilized the big air as a springboard and centered around the concept of "sports+", fully leveraging the advantages of reusing Winter Olympic legacies, leading the trend of "reuse and permanent utilization of industrial heritage". It has served for many sports games besides the FIS Snowboard & Freeski Big Air World Cup, including the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the WCBA League, and WTT China Smash.
