Recently, a delegation of 25 youth representatives from 11 African countries and young scholars from Tsinghua University visited Shougang Park, where they learned about Shijingshan District's progress in urban renewal and technological innovation, and had a clearer picture of the achievements in its transformation into a green city.
The delegation first visited Shougang Park's No.3 Blast Furnace, learning about its transformation from an industrial relic to a novel space for green development. From the 40-meter-high platform, they overlooked the entire Shougang Park and Shijingshan District, appreciating the unique landscape system of industrial heritage. High above ground, they discovered the district's remarkable metamorphosis from an "industrial rust belt" to an "urban spectacle".
Later, the delegation visited Shougang Park's digital experience complex for the metaverse, where they explored cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at NOLO Future Digital Space. Wearing VR devices, they immersed themselves in an exploration of Tang Dynasty culture, experiencing the dynamic fusion of technologies and traditional Chinese culture. The delegation expressed admiration and praise for Shijingshan District and Shougang Park's achievements in green transformation and technological innovation.
