On March 29, the Future Digital Quarter (the "Quarter" for short) made its debut at the China Science Fiction Convention. It is situated on the ground floor of Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center in Shougang Park, Shijingshan District. Focusing on cutting-edge sectors including science fiction, gaming, esports, Metaverse, virtual reality (VR), and robotics, it aims to serve as a comprehensive testbed for the first trials of new technologies, launches of new products, and debuts of new scenarios.
The Quarter uses the ground floor of Building 2 of Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center for launching new products, and connects with surrounding distinctive areas to form an innovative spatial layout featuring "R&D upstairs, verification downstairs, display in the Quarter, and empowerment across the whole region". It consists of three functional zones: a technology exhibition zone, an innovation incubation zone and an immersive interaction zone.
The technology exhibition zone has established a four-tier digital space technology system covering basic resources, technological capabilities, platform tools and scenario applications. It deeply integrates core foundational elements such as computing power, algorithms and data with cutting-edge technologies including intelligent perception, cognitive computing, and modality generation, building an efficient and convenient bridge for digital technologies developed in labs to be used for industries.
The innovation incubation zone nurtures startups and one-person companies (OPCs), supports technology prototype verification and accelerated industrial transformation. It brings together digital content creators, technology developers and entrepreneurial teams to form a full-cycle incubation ecosystem (creativity—prototype—product—market), driving the rapid commercialization of cutting-edge tech achievements. The immersive interaction zone is equipped with interactive installations such as glasses-free 3D displays, holographic projection equipment, motion capture equipment and digital twin systems. It creates a multi-sensory, integrated space where virtual and reality coexist, delivering highly immersive interactive experiences.
