On April 27, Cheng'en Temple located at Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block in Shijingshan District, Beijing, together with the Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum, reopened to the public. At the present stage, the temple and the museum are each open to a maximum of 600 visitors every day. Visitors can now make reservations to buy tickets for different time slots.
Cheng'en Temple's historical and cultural exhibition has also been unveiled, leading visitors to explore the temple's historical and cultural stories through technological means. The AI digital experience officer "En'en" will share impressive stories about this blessed place in western Beijing. High-precision replicas of the complete murals of the Ming Dynasty in the temple's Tianwang Hall will be displayed for the first time.
The main exhibition hall of the Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum inside the temple collectively showcases Beijing's eight imperial handicrafts, conveying the essence of intangible cultural heritage to visitors. In addition, the exhibition of handicrafts made through the inheritance of old techniques and innovative practices presents the long-lasting vitality of China's intangible cultural heritage items.
In addition, the temple's first batch of official creative souvenirs centered on intangible cultural heritage techniques will be featured. From April 27 to May 5, tourists who have purchased the souvenirs of Fahai Temple at Cheng'en Temple can each enjoy a 50-percent discount on the admission ticket to Fahai Temple (which cannot be used for its authentic mural exhibition) with the receipt.
As an imperial temple in the Ming Dynasty, Cheng'en Temple has inherited the tradition of "no opening of temple's gates, no acceptance of incense offerings, and no setting of ritual places", and it therefore known as "Beijing's most mysterious temple".
