Looking for an outing in Shijingshan this spring? This route from Moshikou to the Yongding River Market traces 1,200 years of history and is well worth a visit!

Stop 1: Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block

As a historic post road quarter, Moshikou is the best-preserved part of the "Camel Bell Ancient Road", a road dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties in western Beijing. You can enjoy an authentic Beijing breakfast by a stone-paved lane in the morning, and then embark on a journey back in time in a truly local way.

Stop 2: Fahai Temple

Located on Cuiwei Mountain, Fahai Temple is known as the "Oriental Louvre". Its Ming-Dynasty murals have remained vivid after 580 years. It was constructed 620 years later than Jinge Temple, a Tang-Dynasty structure in Shijingshan.

Stop 3: Shijingshan Academy

It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Moshikou to the foot of Shijing Mountain. You can take Subway Line 11 to Jin'anqiao Station, then walk about 15 minutes to the Shijingshan Academy. Gongbei Pavilion standing on Shijing Mountain is a modern structure built on the original site of Jinge Temple. From the top of Gongbei Pavilion, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Yongding River, Shougang Park, and the Western Hills.

Stop 4: Yongding River Market

Depart southward from the Academy, and you can reach the Yongding River. The Yongding River Market is a new waterfront landmark opened in 2025, currently featuring 11 creative shop brands, including coffee shops, vendors of light meals, trendy tech stores, and more. All 11 stores are Shijingshan's first stores, and about half are also first-time entries in Beijing. As the setting sun over the Western Hills reflects on the river in the evening, you can easily capture stunning sunset photos.
