Recently, the Beijing Laoshan National Cycling Experience Park (北京老山国家级自行车运动体验园) in Shijingshan District announced that the renovated Beijing Laoshan Smart Cycling Track is now in trial operation and will officially open to the public soon.
Stretching 4 kilometers, this mountain loop is China's first national benchmark demonstration project for cycling and relevant technologies. Managed directly by the China Cycling and Fencing Sports Administration Center under the General Administration of Sport of China, it functions as an outdoor venue for members of China's national cycling team to build physical strength and hone riding skills. Recreational cyclists can also ride the very same routes as the national team's athletes. Boasting diverse terrain with steep slopes, gentle gradients, long straights and tight bends, the track puts riders' all-round capabilities to the full test.
The track is marked with lines in red, yellow and blue. The spacious area next to the lines is the dedicated bike lane with corresponding signs, reserved solely for cycling. The narrow passage beside the lines serves as an emergency lane for temporary stopping and pedestrian use. Nine smart data collection stations equipped with sensors and video monitoring poles have been set up along the track, covering key sections including slopes, bends and straights. Combined with ground guide signs, these facilities enable intelligent monitoring, visibility and safety throughout the ride.
Nestled in Laoshan Urban Leisure Park, a major urban green space, the track offers a distinctive blend of the fun of mountain cycling and eco-friendly recreation. The park also hosted mountain biking, track cycling and BMX events during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. This internationally accredited closed-loop track has now evolved into a multifunctional site for professional races, family outings, smart cycling activities and international exchanges.
The track is located 50 meters east of the intersection of the loop road of Laoshan Training Ground (老山教练场) and Laoshan West Street. Scan the QR code below to open the dedicated cycling mini-program, where you can complete entry formalities and view ride data in one stop.
