Sunset glow is extra splendid in summer. If you are currently in Shijingshan, follow this route and soak in the stunning summer sunset glow.

1st Stop: Beijing International Sculpture Park

The cycling route starts at the Beijing International Sculpture Park, where diverse sculptures dot the tree-shaded lawns. As sunset glow spreads across the sky, the lake mirrors its orange-red tones and the silhouettes of the buildings nearby, with every view resembling a scene from a painting.

After exploring the park, drop by the nearby Laoshan Café (Lugu Branch) (老山咖啡馆(鲁谷店)) for a break. The café boasts a charming retro‑style interior. Grab a cup of coffee, sit by the window, and watch the sky fade gently into dusk.

2nd Stop: Laoshan City Leisure Park

Cycle west from Beijing International Sculpture Park and you will reach Laoshan City Leisure Park. Tucked inside the park is a well‑kept viewing platform. Enter from the south gate and follow the gentle slope, and you can easily get to the hilltop observation deck. Standing there, you can catch sight of the CCTV Tower, China Zun (CITIC Tower), and the Ferris wheel of the Shijingshan Amusement Park. At dusk, a full panoramic view of the city opens up before you, as sunset glow rolls from the western mountain ridge all the way over the city—magnificent yet mellow.

After enjoying the sunset glow, make your way to Shanye Park (山也Park). You may unwind at its glass‑walled café enveloped in lush greenery and watch the sky transition from peach‑pink to deep navy blue.

3rd Stop: Shijingshan Amusement Park

Ride toward the Shijingshan Amusement Park as dusk falls. Its fairytale-like castle is wrapped in peach‑pink sunset glow, casting a dreamy vibe. Once you are on board the 88‑meter Ferris wheel, you will enjoy sweeping vistas across Shijingshan District beneath the luminous sunset glow. Thrill‑seekers may try the Tower Swing (飞炫云霄): soar high and plunge down amid the sunset glow, screams and laughter.

Upon exiting the park, drop in at the nearby Tea of Spring (春早茶水铺) for a respite. Order a pot of cold‑brew tea and soak in the cool summer night and soft evening breeze.

4th Stop: Songlin Park

The route terminates at Songlin Park. Rows upon rows of pine trees block out sunlight, making the woods pleasantly cool at dusk. Seated among the pines, you may watch the sunset glow shift from orange‑red to deep navy blue amid serene surroundings.

Across from the park stands 3.14 Café, a well‑established local coffee shop. Its signature drinks—the 3.14 Dirty and fermented‑milk Americano—are both highly recommended.

Cycling Tips

The full route stretches approximately 4 kilometers, running mainly along urban roads and park greenways, with gentle terrain for a smooth riding experience. Remember to wear a hat, cap or cycling sunglasses, as you will face mild glare riding westward at dusk. Designated shared bicycle parking zones sit near every park's entrance, allowing for easier sightseeing by splitting your trip into segments.
