Recently, the 4th Science Fiction Planet Competition officially made its global call for submissions in Shijingshan District, Beijing. The competition is a flagship event of the upcoming 10th China Science Fiction Convention in 2026, with a total prize pool reaching 6.65 million yuan. Institutions, universities, teams, and individuals worldwide can participate in the competition.

Building upon the competition's existing three core units, namely "Science Fiction Technology", "Science Fiction Literature", and "Sci-Fi IP", as well as its "Science Fiction Rising Star" support program, this year's edition focuses on sci-fi gaming and real-world application, streamlines and optimizes sub-categories, and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and diverse forms of innovative practice, aiming to further improve the layout of the sci-fi industry's ecosystem.

The breakdown of the 6.65-million-yuan prize fund is as follows.

The "Science Fiction Technology" unit, with 3 million yuan in prizes, includes two sub-categories ("Sci-Fi Frontier Technologies and "Sci-Fi Product Innovation").

The "Science Fiction Literature" unit offers 1.7 million yuan to novels, novellas and short stories, and young adult books.

The "Sci-Fi IP" category, with 1.35 million yuan, focuses on the gaming and film/television sectors.

The "Science Fiction Rising Star" support program has a dedicated fund of 600,000 yuan to support 12 selected candidates.

This year's competition features a total of seven distinct competition tracks. The top three entries from each track will be selected, resulting in 21 award winners in total. The highest single prize amount can reach up to 1 million yuan.

As the first comprehensive sci-fi competition based in China with a global vision, the Science Fiction Planet Competition has been successfully held for three editions since 2021. To date, the competition has cumulatively received over 2,000 project submissions from China and abroad, covering 14 countries and regions, establishing itself as a key bridge for connecting global sci-fi resources.

It is learned that the submission channel will remain open until February 25. Participants may register online via the official website (https://www.sfpaward.com). Concurrently, Shijingshan District will promote the integrated development of the sci-fi and gaming/e-sports sectors, develop Beijing's future digital space innovation pilot zone, and strive to achieve a total revenue of 31 billion yuan in the related sectors, to drive the high-quality development of the distinctive sci-fi industry.
