Recently, the official web portal of Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. published the second public notice regarding the environmental impact assessment for the "The Branch Line Project of Beijing Rail Transit Line 1". According to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (Draft for Soliciting Opinions), there are ten stations on the Branch Line of Line 1, including nine newly built stations and one renovated station. The construction of the subway is planned to commence by the end of 2023 and be completed and put into operation by the end of June 2027. In the future, the Branch Line of Line 1 will not only be an extension of Line 1, but will also have transfer stations with the Phase II section of Line 11, Line 14, and the Line Sub-center.
The Branch Line of Line 1 will mainly laid along roads such as the Shijingshan Road, Tiyuchang South Street, Jingyang West Street, Changshun First Road, Yuanboyuan South Road, the planned Meishikou Road, Yungang Road, Wangzuo Road, Weigezhuang Road, Liangsan Road and other roads, with a total length of approximately 21 kilometers. The entire line will be underground with ten stations, including nine newly built stations and one renovated station. A new parking lot will be built in the Wangzuo area, located east of West Sixth Ring Road and north of the planned western extension of Yungang Road, covering an area of approximately 9.8 hectares.
The Branch Line project of Line 1 covers the central areas of Shijingshan District and the main functional areas of Fengtai Hexi. The construction of the project will increase the transport supply along the line, providing high-capacity and frequent rail transport service. Starting from the Bajiao Amusement Park Station, this line extends west to the Qinglonghu area of Fengtai District. It connects the West Zone I and West Zone II of Fengtai Park of Zhongguancun Science Park, New Shougang High-end Industry Comprehensive Service Park and other functional areas.
According to the disclosed schematic diagram, the ten stations of the Branch Line of Line 1 extension from east to west include Bajiao Amusement Park Station, Tiyuchang South Street Station, Yuanboyuan Ximen Station, Zhangguozhuang Station, Xi'erqu Station, Houlyucun Station, Yungang Station, Wangzuo Station, Minzu University of China Station, and Qinglonghu East Station (station names are provisional and subject to subsequent relevant approvals).
Connected seamlessly with Line 1, the Branch Line of Line 1 will have three transfer stations, namely Tiyuchang South Street Station, Zhangguozhuang Station, and Houlyucun Station, through which passengers will be able to transfer to the Phase II section of Line 11, Line 14, and the Line Sub-center respectively.
This line will shore up weaknesses of the metro transport service in Fengtai Hexi area, enhance the quality of transportation in southwestern Beijing, and fully leverage the leading role of metro transit in urban spatial layout, driving high-quality development in central Shijingshan District and Fengtai Hexi area.
