The 2025 Shijingshan District Industrial Development Promotion Conference commenced on February 18. As the conference has kicked off, let's take a closer look at Shijingshan's achievements in industrial development!

Leading Industries as the Backbone of Growth

In recent years, Shijingshan has accelerated the development of its "244" modern industrial system, which is characterized by a tiered structure of leading, specialized, and future industries.

At the core of the leading industries are two industry clusters of modern finance and IT, both worth over CNY 100 billion.

In the IT sector, the first batch of 200P computing power at the Intelligent Computing Center has been put into operation, and construction of the 3,000P Ultra-intelligent Computing Project has begun. Also, the Data (Digital) Asset Circulation Innovation Center has been launched, with the digital economy now contributing over 55 percent of the district's total GDP.

For the modern finance sector, Shijingshan has released Beijing's first high-quality development implementation plan for venture capital, hosted the Digital Finance Forum for three consecutive years, and pioneered China's first commercial application of e-CNY for real-name car insurance payments.

For the further growth of these two sectors, the district has laid out detailed plans, aiming to increase their combined added value to over 60 percent of the district's GDP, with the digital economy alone contributing 56 percent.

Specialized Industries Continuously Expanded

Shijingshan's specialized industries primarily focus on science fiction (sci-fi), artificial intelligence (AI), industrial Internet, and virtual reality (VR).

Holographic imaging, AI, motion capture… at the 8th China Science Fiction Convention, an all-encompassing and immersive sci-fi experience left visitors in awe. Yet, this is just the tip of the iceberg in the progress of Shijingshan's sci-fi industry. The district has introduced an action plan for driving the growth of its science fiction industry, launched the University Sci-Fi Alliance, and has attracted over 200 sci-fi enterprises and institutions.

In 2024, Shijingshan became the first district to release a work plan and policy framework for the AI large model industry cluster and became home to Baidu Intelligent Cloud Qianfan Large Model Industry (Beijing) Innovation Base.

Shijingshan's industrial Internet sector has begun to take shape, with two enterprises selected as the National Industrial Internet Pilot Demonstration Projects, with a combined expected industrial revenue reaching CNY 11 billion.

The VR industry has been experiencing rapid growth, with a national key laboratory for VR technologies and systems put into operation and the Phase I of a 3D cloud rendering platform completed. Also, 14 enterprises from the district were recognized among the "China's Top 50 VR Enterprises" in 2024.

In 2025, the district will integrate resources for industrial development and drive multi-sectoral convergence. With the sci-fi industry as the spearhead, the district will continue hosting the China Science Fiction Convention, accelerate the development of the sci-fi gaming industry, and establish shared platforms such as a circulation platform for copyrighted sci-fi works and a new audiovisual production center for sci-fi games. The district will also further carry out the "AI+" action plan, to support the innovation and development of the national key laboratories for AI core technologies and application evaluation, as well as Baidu Intelligent Cloud Qianfan Large Model Industry (Beijing) Innovation Base.

Future Industries Gaining Momentum

In 2024, Shijingshan District made significant strides in the development of its future industries, including the release of an implementation plan for the development of the humanoid robotics industry, the introduction of 17 core humanoid robotics enterprises and the Lunar Exploration and Aerospace Engineering Center, and the construction of the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory.

In 2025, the district will develop a development plan for its future industries, leverage platforms such as the Future Industry Incubation Center, drive the development of the specialized incubators, and develop a pipeline of high-quality projects. With a focus on the humanoid robotics industry, the district aims to build shared platforms for data collection and key component R&D, while exploring a model combining "typical scenarios, pilot demonstration and application promotion" for technology commercialization.
