The 2026 Beijing AI Innovation Hub Development Advancement Conference was recently held. At the event, the city unveiled its first four AI innovation blocks as the first such blocks, which are respectively located in Haidian District, Chaoyang District, Shijingshan District, and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.

Each of these new innovation blocks boasts distinctive features. The Haidian AI Origin Community, centered on Wudaokou and covering an area of approximately 3 square kilometers, leverages the resources of universities and research institutions such as Tsinghua University and Peking University, as well as enterprises dedicated to innovation, to build itself into the first stop for global AI talents to start businesses and pursue innovations. Chaoyang's Optics & AI Space, located in Zhongguancun Chaoyang Park and spanning 2.67 square kilometers, focuses on next-generation computing power technologies including quantum computing, and the engineering application of research achievements. Shijingshan's Cultural Tech Nexus, with the north area of Shougang Park as its core carrier and covering 0.4 square kilometers, aims to build an integrated innovation cluster combining AI and culture. The "Magic World" of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, situated in the Tongming Lake Ring Science and Technology Belt and covering 2 square kilometers, focuses on research directions such as embodied intelligence, forming a closed-loop system for integrated intelligent manufacturing.

To ensure construction quality, Beijing will strengthen support in four aspects:

(1) Technological Innovation: Support breakthroughs in core technologies and the development of innovation platforms;

(2) Application Demonstration: Foster "AI+" projects, prioritizing eligible new products and services for gaining the "first-time product and service recognition" from governmental authorities;

(3) Resource Assurance: Provide computing power and data support, prioritizing major projects and policies.

(4) Environment Enhancement: Advance spatial renovations and infrastructure upgrades.
