Currently in Shijingshan, a district to host both Olympic Summer and Winter Games, the tasks for the upcoming Winter Games are demanding against the pressing deadline. At present, hectic work is being carried out on the construction of Pingguoyuan Comprehensive Transportation Hub (the Hub) which will provide great convenience for the coming Olympics. The project will, after the construction is finished, serve as a crucial traffic transfer point in West Beijing and promote the economic growth of the western part of Shijingshan District.

The Hub, located in the middle part of Shijingshan District, combines rail transit, bus rapid transit and regular bus services and will provide pivotal transportation services for Beijing 2022. It will, after coming into use, become Beijing's first transportation hub with bus rapid transit. Passengers will transfer directly from the bus to the subway, about 160 meters or four minutes by walk, at greater convenience on the way.

In addition to the Hub, other major projects are also under hectic construction, such as West Beijing Joy City, Olympic Winter Games Square, Landscape Avenue for the Olympic Winter Games, and Boiler Factory South Road.
