Snowmaking Officially Starts at Shougang Big Air

On December 12, as snowmaking equipment went into operation, Shougang Big Air officially started snowmaking.

At the snowmaking site, nine pieces of snowmaking equipment have started operation at the predetermined location, and another two are on standby. A 14-member snowmaking team has been in place. During the whole snowmaking period, snowmaking area on the track of Shougang Big Air will cover about 4,190 square meters, and the snow storage area will cover 1,000 square meters with total amount of 11,500 cubic meters of snow, including 720 cubic meters on slideways, 7,200 cubic meters in takeoff area, landing ramp and landing area, and 3,600 cubic meters of snow in storage. "We expect to complete the snowmaking task around January 20, 2022," said Jin Hongli, deputy logistics director of the venue operation team of Shougang Big Air.

Zhang Lin, deputy manager of power supply team of Shougang Big Air, noted that before snowmaking, the supply team had worked together with the venue to carry out specific analysis on the snowmaking scheme, track snow maintenance scheme, snowmaking system, and to present consistent power equipment protection schemes, ensuring the completion of snowmaking on schedule despite temperature changes.

With the overall operation of snowmaking, relevant works have reached the final stage in terms of landscaping of image, guiding signs, laying of optical fiber cables, relay platform building, and construction of temporary facilities. "With the support and assistance of BOCOG, Shijingshan District People's Government of Beijing Municipality, CPC Shijingshan District Committee, and Shougang Group, the venue operation team is accelerating its work from various perspectives." noted Song Shiyuan, venue director of Shougang Big Air.
