On the evening of December 26, the Eighth Shijingshan Citizens' Happy Ice and Snow Season kicked off in Shijingshan Stadium. It was organized by the People's Government of Shijingshan District Beijing Municipality and hosted by Shijingshan District Bureau of Sports.

At the launching ceremony, event organizers presented light shows, Winter Olympic song singing, stunt skiing, ice ballet and other wonderful performances to the citizens. The site also provided for citizens dozens of new experiences, such as skating, skiing, ice bumper car riding, ice bike riding, ice sledge rides, and snow bowling.

Shijingshan District where sits BOCOG and Big Air Shougang, a competition venue of Beijing Olympic Winter Games, has seized the opportunity of preparing for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, taking multiple measures to promote the building of the demonstration zone to give more than 300 million Chinese access to winter sports and has launched a wide range of colorful mass fitness activities related to ice and snow.

At the significant stages of preparation for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, such as one year, 200, 100, 60, 50, and 40 days countdown to the opening of Beijing 2022, Shijingshan District also held featured activities including ice and snow experience, ice and snow display, Winter Olympic knowledge popularization, cycling, and hiking, in order to create a great atmosphere in the whole society to embrace and promote the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
