The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics came to a conclusion at the National Indoor Stadium on February 20. During this Winter Olympics, Big Air Shougang, the only snow event venue in downtown Beijing, witnessed the awarding of four gold medals. Chinese athletes Gu Ailing and Su Yiming won the championship at women's freeski big air and men's snowboard big air respectively here.

Meanwhile, the National Winter Sports Training Center at Shougang Park contained four venues for short-track speed skating, figure skating, ice hockey and curling, providing high-quality training grounds for the national team to prepare for the Winter Olympics. Of the nine Olympic gold medals won by the Chinese team, five were related to Shijingshan District, which has become a land of blessings for championships in the hearts of athletes.
As the place where sits the headquarters of BOCOG and Big Air Shougang, Shijingshan District comprehensively shouldered its responsibility, continuously improved its systems and mechanisms, strengthened multi-department coordination, vigorously optimized venue operation and event organization, providing quality supportive services in accommodation, catering, medical treatment, transport and pandemic prevention, so as to make contributions to presenting a streamlined, safe and splendid Winter Olympics.
Taking venue operation and support as the core work during the Winter Olympics, Shijingshan District has fully implemented the "three entries" mechanism which involved venues, owner units and host areas, and despatched more than 70 officials to venues to realize the coordination between venues and the outside and provide high-quality services for the Games in line with strict standards.

Shijingshan District launched nine hotels serving the Winter Olympics, strengthened food safety supervision, tried its best to meet the dietary needs of different countries and regions, different ethnic groups with various cultural customs, provided diversified catering services and a variety of foods including dumplings, roast ducks and Jiucai Hezi (a pan-fried dumpling filled with chives). These characteristic foods were popular among athletes, demonstrating and promoting the traditional food culture with Chinese characteristics.
The health system of Shijingshan District selected exemplary medical workers from Yuquan Hospital, Shijingshan Hospital, Shijingshan District Hospital of TCM, Shijingshan District Center for Disease Control and Prevention, established pandemic prevention teams, and despatched them to each designated hotel of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games. They jointly offered on-site services, provided a full array of disinfection and temperature measurement items, supervised regular disinfection inside the closed loop, and carried out daily PCR testing. Moreover, psychologists were also available to offer psychological counseling service.
Fire rescue teams in Shijingshan District deployed two fire trucks and one patrol vehicle at Shougang Winter Olympic Fire Station. They tried to get familiar with roads inside the park every day and ensured that they could reach the target area within three minutes, eliminating any fire safety hazard inside venues. During the Beijing Winter Olympics, 16 city volunteer service stations and 47 key community stations in the region were put into full operation, and more than 6,700 city volunteers were on duty to provide service for the Games.
The 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games featured smooth organization, splendid matches and warm services, providing a wonderful competition environment for participating athletes while promoting professional services and fair play. The IOC's Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi noted that Beijing offered the best venues and the best view he had ever seen. The event was truly remarkable.

Ready to embrace the post-Games era, Shijingshan District, with great vision, has been planning the utilization of the Winter Olympic areas after the Games. It will make the Big Air Shougang, the office area of BOCOG and the venues of short speed skating, figure skating, curling and ice hockey a sports and leisure block, a snowboarding and aerials R&D center and an exhibition area for winter sports. Among them, activities of mass fitness, sports events, professional training, and business culture will be launched at Big Air Shougang, boosting the diversified development of sports, economy and society in Shougang Park and Western Beijing at large, as well as building new landmarks for the rejuvenation of the capital city in the new era. The training venues of the National Winter Sports Training Center will be converted into public facilities and host comprehensive events, contributing to the popularization of ice sports.
Shijingshan District will also launch a protection list of the industrial heritage in Shougang Park for the Beijing Winter Olympics, study the reutilization mode and plan of the industrial heritage, establish a "sports +" industrial ecosystem with the focus on the development of diversified business forms including sports business, sports exhibitions, wellness and leisure, cultural performances and sports tourism.
