The Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission recently disclosed that the main structure of the long-awaited Pingguoyuan Integrated Transportation Hub in western Beijing has been basically completed.
Scheduled for completion within this year, the hub will achieve seamless connections among Subway Lines 1 and 6, the S1 Line, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) upon completion. Passengers can directly transfer between Line 1 and Line 6 (both underground lines) within the hub's underground section. For transfers between these two lines and the S1 Line or BRT, passengers will need to go above ground and use overhead corridors.
In addition to rail transit, the hub will integrate multiple transportation modes, including BRT, conventional buses, taxis, and park-and-ride (P+R) parking lots. Upon completion, BRT vehicles will be able to directly enter the hub via ramps on Fushi Road Viaduct. The hub is planned to accommodate six conventional bus routes, for BRT routes, 590 car parking spaces, six taxi pick-up/drop-off spots, and 1,200 bicycle parking spaces, to cater to citizens' diverse travel needs.
Furthermore, the construction of the Shijingshan section of Subway Line 1's branch and the overhaul project of the Shijingshan section of the Suburban Railway Sub-center Line are progressing in an orderly manner.
