On November 5, the construction of the Shougang water system's reclaimed water introduction project was officially commenced.

The project involves the installation of 3.21 kilometers of DN300-700 water transmission pipelines. These pipelines will draw water from Wulituo Reclaimed Water Plant, utilize the original industrial water intake pipes of Shougang, and extend southeast to the northern area of Shougang Park. This will supply reclaimed water to Xiuchi and Qunming lakes. Upon completion, the project will optimize regional water resource allocation, alleviate water scarcity within the park, and effectively replenish groundwater. This will enhance water security capabilities while contributing to the green development in the "Two Parks and One River" area (Shougang Park, the Beijing Garden Expo Park, and the Yongding River). The project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.

From 2026 to 2030, Shijingshan District will launch several water system interconnection projects, including the reclaimed water introduction project of the Shougang water system, to supplement ecological water flow in the lakes within Shougang Park as well as the Yongding River, meet landscape water demands, promote the sustainable use of industrial legacies and the Winter Olympics heritage, and fully demonstrate the transformation of the park from an obsolete industrial complex to a vibrant urban hub through the unique landscape system of "mountains, waters, and industrial relics".
