Beijing Winter Olympic Park will be completed by the end of September 2021. Seated in Shijingshan District, the park will cover an area of about 1,142 hectares. Upon its completion, 326 hectares of the area will be covered by water, and 506 hectares by green space. 

After the completion of the park, a sports system will be established in the Yongding River area. With a marathon route as the brand facility of this area, Shijingshan District will integrate Lianshihu Park and other resources around the Yongding River to construct a 42-km of marathon route. 

This brand-new marathon route featuring different routes of 5km, 10km, and 21km begins in south of Jingyuan Road and runs through Youngding River Forest Park, Lianshihu Park, Shougang Industrial Park, Gaojing Ditch Estuary Park and Mencheng Lake. Comparing to the previous Beijing Marathon routes, the brand-new route will not cross the public roads and integrates various elements such as Yongding River, Xishan Mountain, Shougang Park and Winter Olympics, thus forming a picturesque scenery along Yongding River in Shijingshan District. 

In addition, through exploring its rich historical and cultural resources, Shijingshan District will build a public open space to showcase six cultural sites including Shijingshan Mountain, iron cow of Pangcun Village, Shibadeng section of the Great Wall, Beihuiji Temple (a temple worshiping river god and built in the Emperor Yongzheng Period of Qing Dynasty), Pangcun ferry, and Shiluguanqu (an irrigation canal on the west bank of Yongding River), thus developing a distinctive culture belt.
