"Big Air Shougang is also the stage of my life. Every step I take is enough to make my fulfilling day". As the security manager of the only snow event venue in Beijing Competition Zone of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, and deputy director of Winter Olympic Games Department of Shijingshan Sub-bureau of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security, Feng Tao has determined 2.7 kilometers of closed lines, 45 security spaces covering 4,200 square meters, participated in temporary facility planning of the venue covering 29,000 square meters, formulated security work plan of Big Air Shougang, mapped the deployment of venue security personnel, built the infrastructure ledger of the venue, and checked every corner of the Winter Olympic site covering 32.18 hectares, not letting go of the slightest security risk.
The first thing Feng Tao does every day is going around the 2.7-km-long closed security line. At the beginning, there was no planned security area in the venue. Feng Tao made a detailed operation plan based on the actual situation of the venue after repeated research, and made daily field visits to determine the location of security check areas, the number of security equipment and security work flow. After these arrangements were in place, Feng Tao checked and accepted all the security materials, studied and developed security plans, emergency evacuation plans and drill plans, and registered the water, electricity, gas, heat, oil and other infrastructures on site to ensure everything was ready.
The torch was carried to Shougang Park on February 2. Starting from 9 o'clock, Feng Tao vigorously coordinated the entry of personnel and vehicles, and kept in touch with the torch relay headquarters to find and solve problems at any time. On February 3, athletes from around the globe started entering Big Air Shougang for field training. Feng Tao studied the security check policies for athletes and the work flow, making timely adjustments to the security measures.
Since the opening of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games on the evening of February 4, more athletes have entered the venue for field training and preparation. Without stopping, Feng Tao checked the security equipment, personnel on duty and task implementation, communicated with the security staff inside the closed loop to learn about the training of athletes, and told the volunteers about the security procedures.
"Wearing the solemn police uniform, I am required to ensure that everything is done perfectly", noted Feng Tao, who won the title of "the best policeman" at the beginning of the year. In 2006, at the age of 35, he was selected and transferred to the Command Center of Shijingshan Sub-bureau of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security for police reception and patrol command, doing a good job as always. In 2007, he was recommended as the security command assistant of Laoshan Cycling Velodrome Complex, and participated in the security work of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
"Unlike the security work in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, this year's coordination of COVID-19 prevention and security work poses many new problems that we have never faced before." Notably, Feng Tao, who is at the age of 50 now, has rich experience in practice. He analyzed on-site security risks in the Winter Olympic venue and learned how to use new technologies to cope with new problems. "Only with the spirit of contribution and a great sense of responsibility can we ensure the success of the Olympic Games. Only in that way will life be more fulfilling and meaningful.
