On December 26, 2023, Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei signed the Framework Agreement for Cooperation on One-Card Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Social Security Resident Services in Shijiazhuang. This agreement aims to promote the construction of "one-card" system in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and to expedite the realization of cross-province utilization, muti-functional use, and the integrated development of online and offline scenarios for social security cards across the three regions. Third-generation social security cards will allow residents of Beijing to access services across sectors ranging from transportation to cultural tourism within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau is making full preparations for the issuance of the third-generation social security cards. Improved resident services within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to become available to the residents of Beijing following the issue of a third-generation social security card include medical treatment, public transportation, library services, museums visiting, and annual tourism cards applying.
According to reports, Beijing is continuously expanding service scenarios with a focus on areas such as transportation, medical insurance and treatment, and park admissions. Currently, infrastructure upgrades facilitating the use of social security cards on buses, subways and several municipal parks have been completed across the city, with corresponding upgrades in medical insurance and human resources nearly complete. Residents of Beijing can use their third-generation social security cards to obtain medical treatment, take public transportation, enjoy preferential parking services at 38 P+R parking lots in the city, top up their cards at banks or by the Beijing Yikatong app, and apply for annual passes to public parks within Beijing and annual cards for cultural and leisure tourism within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
