China's 46th National Tree Planting Day was observed on March 12 this year. In fact, tree planting has always been part of the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, and this tradition has a long history. Today, let's admire the ancient trees in Badachu Park in Shijingshan.
Badachu Park is rich in vegetation, with a forest coverage rate of 97 percent. Among them, the white pine trees in Chang'an Temple are among the rarest of their kind, with all of them over 600 years old and exceptionally beautiful.
In front of Guanyin Hall of Dabeisi Temple, there are two ancient ginkgo trees, lush and verdant. They are said to have been planted in the Yuan Dynasty, with both of them aged over 700 years. Many small trees grow around the trunk, resembling stars surrounding the moon, hence forming a spot known as "Gongsun Tree" (公孙树, which means "grandfather and grandchildren trees" in Chinese).
At Xiangjie Temple, an old pine tree with twisted branches and long needles spread over the drum tower, resembling a green dragon playing in the sea, hence commonly known as "Dragon Pine".
In addition, many ancient trees such as magnolia, sophora, and cypress in Badachu Park are also worth viewing.
