A new exhibition has opened at Cheng'en Temple (Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum), titled "Outstanding Craftsmanship, Exhibition of Beijing's 'Four Famous Dans' of Arts and Crafts" (卓华工巧——北京工艺美术“四大名旦”作品展), presenting the beauty of four intangible cultural heritage crafts in one go. The exhibition will run for three months (May 17–August 17). Visitors do not require separate tickets.

Jingtailan (cloisonné), ivory carving, jade carving, and carved lacquer are collectively known as the "Four Famous Dans" of Beijing's arts and crafts (Note: "Dan" is a term for female roles of the traditional Chinese opera). It is said that "the Four Famous Dans came first, followed by the Eight Imperial Handicrafts." Originating from the Imperial Household Department's workshop during the Qing Dynasty, these crafts have been passed down for centuries, embodying the dedication and wisdom of generations of artisans.

This exhibition brings together authentic cultural artifacts from the Qing Dynasty, masterpieces by national-level masters, and innovative works by Beijing's arts and crafts masters. It blends traditional techniques with contemporary innovation, allowing visitors to discover the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage up close.

Reminder: Cheng'en Temple (Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum) is located within Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block. Motor vehicle access is restricted daily from 10:00 to 20:00. You can take Subway Line 11 to Moshikou Station (Exit B), and walk 1,000 metres east to arrive.
