  • Which APEC economies participate in the ABTC Scheme?
    At present, all the 21 APEC member economies are fully participating members of the APEC Business Travel Card scheme (ABTC scheme), including the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong SAR and Chinese Taipei), Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Chile, Peru, Mexico, the United States of America, Canada, and Russia. Currently, the United States of America and Canada are transitional members of the ABTC scheme, which means that they are not able to receive travel card applications from other member economies but will aid the ABTC holders from other member economies in visa applications and entry and exit customs clearance. Personnel exchanges between the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, and Taiwan shall abide by the current personnel exchange regulations.
  • What is an ABTC?
    An APEC Business Travel Card (hereinafter referred to as "ABTC") is a travel document issued in accordance with the ABTC Scheme, and held by a relevant person from any of the APEC economies after his/her application for the card has been approved. The issuance of this kind of cards aims to offer convenience and facilitate business travel between ABTC holders in the APEC region.
  • Who can apply for ABTCs?
    Senior management personnel, main business personnel, and technical personnel of state-owned enterprises based in Beijing and privately held enterprises registered in Beijing (including private enterprises, Sino-foreign joint ventures, wholly foreign-owned enterprises, and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao-funded enterprises).

  • How much does it cost for the ABTC application?
    CNY 720 per ABTC to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
  • How long will it take to get an ABTC?
    In view of the variable visa review and approval time of each economy, it takes four to six months to get your ABTC from the date when the application materials are received by the foreign affairs office in charge. The duration consists of eight working days for the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality (including five working days for material acceptance and review, and three working days for payment, information upload, and card collection), the time required for approval made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and consulates of other 16 member economies, and the time for card preparation.
